I'm on Weddzilla!

I have some very exciting news to share with you. I have been chosen to become a Featured Bride Blogger at the Weddzilla blog! You can check out my introductory post here.

This is also big for me because at Weddzilla we are introduced and go by our first name.  In case you haven't noticed, I've never shared my real name on this blog or my Twitter, nor posted any personal photos of myself (other than my hair).  That is not an accident.  The reason is that in my profession, I work hard to maintain my privacy, and I have been very hesitant to reveal too much about myself.

So here's the big reveal: my first name is Morgan. Weddzilla also required that I share a picture of myself, so I chose one that gives you some idea of what I look like, but hides most of my face.  It is a picture that Cape Cod Groom took when we were on the Cape a couple of weeks ago.

Overall, I still haven't decided what to do about revealing more of myself on this blog. We're getting our engagement photos taken in 2 weeks, and I'd love to share those and post pictures of our wedding as well, as I know people would enjoy seeing them.  On the other hand, I'm not sure if I'm ready or willing to "come out of the closet" yet, so to speak :-)

This led me to wonder if anyone else out there has had any hesitation about revealing yourself on your blog or website, for either personal or professional reasons? If so, how did you deal with this struggle and what did you ultimately decide, and why?

  1. Congratulations!! That's awesome. Great picture by the way even though we can't see you face ;) I hesitant to reveal myself as well...mostly b/c I want to have some sort of anonymity.

  3. Congrats! Weddzilla is new to me so I'll definitely check it out!

I understand about your wanting to remain anonymous because of your job. You should just reveal what makes you comfortable, though I'd love to see the engagement pics and wedding photos!

  6. Congrats to you....what an honor.
I never really had any problem with showing my face, but then again, I don't have a job that would prevent me from doing so.

  8. Congrats! I also struggle with how much to reveal. I am not big on privacy at all, but I do get random emails sometimes that remind me that anyone could read my blog, not just other brides. Also my fiance and family are very insistent on maintaining privacy. So it's an ongoing process. I use my first name and my city, which hopefully isn't enough to identify me.

  9. Congratulations! I just figure that, at some point, people may figure out who I am. So I've been trying to think of this as a "professional writing sample." It's not, obviously, but I try and keep it clean, keep it relevant, and keep it thoughtful so I'm not embarrassed if professional colleagues or random acquaintances figure it out. And although, by extension, people could figure out who my fiance and family are, I'm keeping their personal stories out of my blog and I check with J before I post anything directly related to him.

  10. Congratulations! We are also hesitant about posting pictures. You can always crop them like $10000 wedding did with her pictures.

  11. Congratulations...and I totally understand the way you feel! I have, obviously, posted my first name only. I'm kinda hesitant about my location and place/type of employment though...
